Bluesound Mobile

The Bluesound Mobile project was a collaborative effort to redesign the mobile interface of the Bluesound Mobile application, which controls the audio play in a user's home in connection with the Bluesound audio system.

The old interface was very monochromatic, clunky, and difficult to navigate, so myself and two other students were tasked with re-imagining the application.

The first step in the process of the Bluesound redesign was to take the required information and controls from the existing Bluesound application and restructure the hierarchy of information in a more easily navigatable way. The overwhelming capability of control the Bluesound app has led us to focus our attention on two specific areas: music management and device control.

The group mindmapped all of the existing areas required in the map so the redesign could begin with a carefully considered, thorough plan of action for completion. After this, a moodboard was developed to help guide the design process, including fonts, colors, UI elements, and inspiration photos.

The aesthetic chosen was one inspired by the clarity and peacefulness of water, and blue hues were chosen for their representation of purity, a quality Bluesound prides their sound quality in.

From there, content wireframes and low-fidelity mockups were completed for the general structure of the application.

The final design can be seen in the screens below. The application was restructured to give the user a clear navigation structure that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Devices were also moved to a clearer, more uniform screen which allows the user to control playback and volume in every room and audio device in the house with a downward swipe.
